Hand-Painted Turquoise Lotus Incense Holder

This is the sister piece to our cobalt lotus incense holder — same bowl, same raised dome, same three holes for your sticks to fan through — but wearing an entirely different sky. Here the ground is turquoise, the scattered flowers are yellow with green leaves, and the dome at the centre blooms in pink and blue on a field of sunflower yellow. It is the colour of morning rather than evening. Of jasmine rather than oudh.

Place it on a windowsill where light falls, or a shelf where things are kept that matter. The wide bowl holds the ash cleanly. The dome holds your sticks upright. The whole thing is 10 cm across and 4 cm tall — compact enough to live anywhere, beautiful enough to earn its place.

The Craft

Jaipur blue pottery takes its name from cobalt oxide — but its palette has always been far wider. The turquoise, the yellows, the greens — all are mineral pigments, ground and painted freehand by artisans who have worked this craft for generations. The base is not clay but quartz paste, which produces blue pottery's signature high-gloss surface, its distinctive weight, and the unglazed white-quartz foot visible beneath the bowl.

Each piece is wheel-thrown and painted entirely by hand. No two are identical.
